Edwards School of Business launches new research website

Chelsea Willness and Joelena Leader

At the Edwards School of Business, researchers are tackling big questions of societal importance that have real world impact and strategic significance to the university, the province and the nation. To highlight this great work, the school has recently launched a Research Website to highlight our faculty’s diverse research initiatives and to invite potential partners in research, businesses, and other organizations to collaborate.

Edwards’ researchers study topics such as Indigenous economic development and governance, leadership, responsible organizations, sustainability, social inclusion, innovation, energy and resource economics, international and cross-cultural connections, among many others! They are extensively involved in partnerships for research, teaching and community engagement, while regularly publishing their work in highly visible and respected journals found on the prestigious Financial Times top 50 list or ranked highly on worldwide journal lists (like ABDC and the Chartered Association of Business Schools’ Academic Journal Guide).

Check out the interesting and cutting edge research projects led by Edwards’ researchers—like Dr. Barbara Phillip’s work, for example.

Dr. Phillips is a Marketing Professor and Rawlco Editor who studies how visual images in advertising communicate with the consumer. More recently, she has been tackling important questions surrounding the use of death in advertising – an area that has not yet been studied in her field.

Dr. Joseph Schmidt, Associate Professor of Human Resources and Organizational Behaviour recently published his research findings in two of the top journals in the field (Human Relations and the Journal of Applied Psychology). His work examines how strategic human resource management practices influence employee behaviours and company performance, and he also studies individual differences and personality in relation to performance and well-being in the workplace.

Assistant Professor of Accounting, Dr. Han-Up Park, explores shifts within the Canadian oil and gas industry. His research focuses on understanding how company performance is impacted by the different strategies companies use to minimize the effects of dropping oil prices on their bottom line.
