The University of Saskatchewan (USask) has re-appointed Dr. Keith Willoughby (PhD) as the dean of the Edwards School of Business (Edwards) for a second five-year term.

This decision was made by the Board of Governors with “enthusiastic and unanimous support of the review committee and recommendation of the president,” said Airini, Provost and Vice-President Academic at USask.

Willoughby earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He furthered his education with an MSc from the University of British Columbia and a PhD from the University of Calgary.

He joined Edwards in 1997 as an assistant professor and has had an immense passion for Edwards ever since. “It is an engaged school that is creating the next generation of business professionals through vibrant academic programming delivered from superb teacher-scholars, while supported by outstanding staff. Our student experience and faculty-driven research excellence provide demonstrable signals of Edwards success,” said Willoughby.

In 2011, Willoughby took on the role of associate dean. In this position his academic portfolio consisted of faculty oversight and management of the school’s research and scholarly activities, as well as responsibilities pertaining to business school accreditation. In 2015, Willoughby was recognized with the USask Master Teacher Award, the university’s highest level of recognition of teaching excellence.

In 2017, Willoughby was appointed to his first term as dean of the Edwards School of Business. He replaced Daphne Taras who had served as the Edwards dean for the prior six years. This second term for Willoughby comes after many accomplishments during the previous five years, including the receipt of AACSB Accreditation in 2018 and the opening of the Gordon Rawlinson Finance and Trading Room in 2020.

“Dr. Willoughby’s continued dedication and experience will be a tremendous asset in fulfilling the potential of the college’s bold ambitions,” said Airini, Provost and Vice-President Academic at the USask regarding the re-appointment of Dr. Keith Willoughby.
