In November 2024, students, faculty, donors and alumni gathered to celebrate student success at the annual awards luncheon.

At this year’s luncheon, the Edwards School of Business awarded a grand total of over $1.6 million in scholarships provided directly though the Edwards School of Business and the University of Saskatchewan. 117 awards were given out, many with multiple recipients for a total of 555 students.

The speakers included donor representatives Cliff and Colton Wiegers of Wiegers Financial & Benefits and student representative, Alec Remai.

Cliff is a proud alumnus of the college and after graduating, he and his wife, Deb, founded Wiegers Financial & Benefits. Mindful of the support and opportunities he had received as a student, Cliff made his first donation in the early 1990s and has been a member of the Dean’s Circle since 2014. Joining him was his son, Colton, also an alum of the college, who soon followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the family business. As a student, Colton was heavily involved in various student clubs and has continued his community involvement after graduating. Together, they shared the importance of giving back and staying engaged with the community.

Fourth-year accounting student and scholarship recipient, Alec Remai spoke afterward to express gratitude on behalf of all student recipients for the positive impact of the scholarships.

“There is equally a stress relief impact from these scholarships. To be able to know that you can offset tuition, that you have those extra dollars for something else plays into the mental game that is financial planning for university students,” said Remai.

“We are truly grateful for the gifts and contributions our donors have provided to our students,” said Acting Dean Dr. Marjorie Delbaere. “Congratulations to all the scholarship and award recipients. May you continue to thrive on your path toward success.”
