Strong partnerships between the Edwards School of Business, employers, and supporters such as Federated Co-operatives Limited continue to create meaningful experiential learning opportunities for students. Through the Edwards Co-operative Education Program, students gain practical workplace experience while helping organizations address real business needs.

The program offers business students an 8 to 12-month work placement in their chosen field, allowing them to apply classroom learning in professional settings while developing the skills, confidence, and networks that support their future careers. Over the past year, Edwards co-op students contributed to organizations in accounting, finance, human resources, manufacturing, agriculture, government, and professional services.

Following eight months of co-op placements, the Edwards School of Business hosts its annual Co-op Open House, bringing together students and employers to celebrate the success of the program and explore future opportunities. During this event, new and returning co-op students can network with prospective employers and one another. This year, 155 incoming undergraduate and MBA students attended the event in search of January placements, while 143 returning students participated after completing their work terms.

The event also provides an opportunity to celebrate and recognize returning co-op students for their accomplishments during their work placements. Through a combination of student and employer nominations, scholarships and awards are presented to students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement, leadership, initiative, and commitment to professional growth. This year, nine students were recognized across five award categories, including two student-nominated and three employer-nominated awards, with a combined value of $20,400 in scholarship support.
