The Marcoux Leadership Program

COMM 498: The Marcoux Leadership Program

Powered by the Edwards School of Business, the Marcoux Leadership Program offers an experiential path to developing the core leadership skills you need now and in the future.

This 3 credit unit course is a one-week, in-person intensive course, taking place May 4-8, 2026. It is open to students from colleges across the University of Saskatchewan. This course provides you an opportunity to build you leadership skills and better prepare you for your future career.

Leaders have a tremendous influence on people, organizations, and societies. During this one-week intensive course, you will be introduced to a set of practices and frameworks designed to help you develop an understanding of different leadership styles, as well as fundamental leadership skills. This hands-on course is designed to cultivate the next generation of business leaders through active, experience-based learning. You will engage in real-world leadership challenges and team-based projects. This course will enable you to apply evidence-based leadership perspectives and develop the skills required to become an effective leader in your career.

Whether you already see yourself as a leader or you are an aspiring leader looking for that first step, this opportunity is designed for students who take initiative: on project teams, in student groups, in volunteer roles, or at work. If you’re motivated to learn from others, eager to contribute, and interested in building meaningful professional skills, you belong here.

Are You Eligible?

To participate in the Marcoux Leadership Program, you must meet certain eligibility criteria.

  • Eligibility Criteria
    To be eligible to apply, you must:
    • Be a current undergraduate student enrolled in a four-year degree program at the University of Saskatchewan
    • Have completed a minimum of 60 credit units by May 1 of the admission year
    • Have not completed more than 102 credit units by May 1 of the admission year
    • Be a full-time student (registered in 9 or more credit units per term during the Fall and Winter terms)
    • Achieved a minimum 70.00% cumulative average* to date.
    • Be in good academic standing with minimum yearly average of 70.00%, with no faculty actions.**
    • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills (an admission interview will be required)
    *Depending on your college, cumulative average may be referred to as program average or weighted average.
    **Please note that depending on demand, cumulative and yearly admittance average may be higher.
  • Mandatory Course Requirements
    If you are accepted into the course, you must:
    • Attend the in-person Program Launch on May 1, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    • Attend all in-person classes from May 4–8, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Participate in the Edwards Career Mentorship Program from October 2026 to March 2027 (for Edwards School of Business students only)***
    *** Edwards School of Business B.Comm. students who have previously completed the Edwards Career Mentorship Program prior to enrolling in COMM 498: The Marcoux Leadership Program are considered to have fulfilled this requirement.
  • Edwards-Specific Criteria for Admission

    Admission to COMM 498: The Marcoux Leadership Program includes automatic admission to the Edwards Career Mentorship Program for Edwards School of Business B.Comm. students only.

    This mentorship requirement does not apply to students from colleges outside of the Edwards School of Business. Students admitted to COMM 498 will participate in the Edwards Career Mentorship Program during the following academic year.

    The Edwards Career Mentorship Program partners undergraduate B.Comm students (upper year, all majors including Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management) with professionals in the business community (many of whom are Edwards Alumni) from October to March. These mentorship relationships enable students and business leaders to exchange knowledge and experience relating to skill, culture and values.

How to Apply

If you are interested in applying for admission to COMM 498: Marcoux Leadership Program, please submit an application form. The application process closes the February 13, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.

Please upload the following documents as part of your application:

  1. Your current résumé (maximum two pages). At this point, we are more interested in the content than the format. Make sure you include: education, awards and scholarships, work experience, extracurricular activities such as volunteer experience, student leadership roles, memberships, sports, etc.
  2. Your unofficial University of Saskatchewan transcript.

Important Dates

  • Application and Admission Process
    • February 13, 2026 (4:30 p.m.): Application deadline
    • February 23 to March 6, 2026: Admission interview
    • By March 11, 2026: Applicants will be notified of admission results
  • Program Launch
    • May 1, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: In-person program launch (mandatory session for all successful candidates)
  • Class Dates
    • May 4 –8, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: In-person classes (mandatory classes for all successful candidates)
  • Edwards Career Mentorship Program
    Please note this mentorship requirement applies only to Edwards School of Business B.Comm. students:
    • The program runs from October 2026 to March 2027. The time commitment includes meeting with your assigned mentor once per month (in person, e-mail, and/or telephone).
